According to Decree-Law n.º 10/2009, of January 12, insurance for Capoeira is mandatory for agents (including agents with disabilities or impairments), for practitioners of Capoeira activities in infrastructures open to the public, public or private, and for participants in Capoeira competitions or demonstrations, with the responsibility for concluding said insurance being respectively, the federations, entities that operate infrastructures open to the public and entities that organize sporting events or events. For Capoeira practitioners in the high performance regime, the system of two complementary insurances is maintained (sports insurance, supplemented by health and personal accident insurance), as is the case for professional practitioners (sports insurance, supplemented by work). Capoeira insurance covers the risks of personal accidents inherent to the respective Capoeira activity, namely those resulting from training, sporting events and respective travels, inside and outside Portuguese territory (the coverage of risks inherent to travel only covers sports agents).

The Federation has a national scope and pursues the following purposes: To promote, regulate, direct the practice of Capoeira or a set of related or associated modalities at a national level; Represent the interests of its affiliates before the Public Administration; Represent Capoeira, or a set of similar or associated modalities, with international sports organizations where it is affiliated, as well as ensuring the competitive participation of national teams.
